Tips for Generating STL Files
Following are some guidelines that may help you prepare your STL files using various CAD packages. Keep in mind that your design must be a three dimensional solid object in order to output an STL file. To save time and file size, export your STL file as a binary file.
ENGINEER 2001
- File > Save a Copy
- File Type > STL
- Set Chord Height to 0. Pro/Engineer 2001 will substitute a minimum acceptable value.
- Set Angle Control 1
- (OK)
Pro/ENGINEER 2001i2
- File>Export>Model
- STL
- Set Chord Height to 0. Pro/Engineer will substitute a minimum acceptable value.
- Set Angle Control 1
- (OK)
AutoCAD
- Set FacetRes = 10
- Use the STLOUT command to export your STL model.
SOLID WORKS 2001
- File > Save As > ( Save As type = STL)
- STL Options > set Quality = Fine

- Tools > Options > Export
- STL Options.

- File > Save As
